Product Introduction
Product Description
Product Name: Powered/ Dry Ferrous Sulfate (Monohydrate/Anhydrous Ferrous Sulfate)
Source & Form: A refined product made by dehydrating, drying and crushing wet ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, mainly in the form of monohydrate (FeSO₄·H₂O) or anhydrate (FeSO₄).
Product Characteristics
- Composition & Appearance: Iron content is about 30% or higher (effective ingredients are significantly increased due to the removal of crystal water); it is an off-white or light yellow fine flow powder, dry and with good fluidity.
- Stability: More stable than wet products, less prone to oxidation and with a longer shelf life, but still needs to be sealed and moisture-proof.
- Solubility: Easily soluble in water with high dissolution efficiency.
Application Fields
- Suitable for scenarios requiring high purity and effective ingredients, such as feed additives, food additives, high-end fertilizers, and pharmaceuticals;
- Convenient for precise metering and mixing, especially suitable for processes requiring fine batching (e.g., feed production).
Cost & Storage-Transportation Characteristics
- High production cost and higher unit price, but with high effective ingredients and light transportation weight (small volume), the comprehensive use cost may be lower;
- More economical and convenient for storage and transportation.
Working Principle
The working principle of dry ferrous sulfate (monohydrate/anhydrous) relies on the chemical properties of its high-content iron, combined with reaction mechanisms in different application scenarios:
- Nutritional Supplement (Feed/Food/Pharmaceuticals):It releases ferrous ions (Fe²⁺) after dissolution, which can be directly absorbed by organisms, participate in hemoglobin synthesis, supplement iron, and prevent or improve iron-deficiency anemia; in feed, it can increase animal iron reserves and promote growth.
- Soil Improvement & Agricultural Fertilization:Fe²⁺ supplements iron in the soil to alleviate iron-deficiency chlorosis in plants; its acidic properties can neutralize alkaline soil, reduce pH value, and promote the activation and absorption of nutrients in the soil.
- Water Treatment:Fe²⁺ is converted to ferric ions (Fe³⁺) under oxidative conditions, which hydrolyze to form ferric hydroxide colloid that adsorbs suspended particles and organic impurities in water; it also reacts with phosphate to form ferric phosphate precipitate, enabling phosphorus removal, flocculation and decolorization.
- Precise Batching (e.g., Feed Production):The dry powder form has good fluidity, which is easy to mix evenly with other raw materials, and releases active ingredients through precise metering to ensure batching stability.

Product Features
Component & Efficacy Properties
- High Active Ingredient: Most crystal water is removed, with iron content reaching 30% (monohydrate) or 36% (anhydrate), which is much higher than wet products, leading to higher use efficiency.
- Efficient Solubility: Easily soluble in water with fast dissolution rate (≥90% in 3 minutes in 20℃ water), releasing active ions quickly.
Physical Properties
- Form & Fluidity: Off-white/light yellow dry fine powder with good fluidity, convenient for precise metering and mixing (suitable for fine batching scenarios like feed and food).
- Low Moisture Content: Moisture content ≤5% (monohydrate) or ≤2% (anhydrate), making storage and transportation lighter and less prone to agglomeration.
Chemical Stability
- Enhanced Oxidation Resistance: Less prone to oxidation than wet products; ferric iron proportion ≤8% in fresh products, and ≤12% after 6 months of storage (still needs sealed moisture protection), with a longer shelf life.
Application Properties
- Scenario Adaptability: Suitable for fields requiring high purity and active ingredients, such as feed/food additives, high-end fertilizers, and pharmaceuticals; the fine powder form enables uniform mixing.
- Storage & Transportation Economy: Light weight and small volume, with lower transportation cost than wet products; however, the powder is prone to dust, requiring certain operating environment conditions.
Cost Properties
- Higher unit price than wet/granular products, but the high active ingredient content and low loss may result in lower comprehensive use cost.
